XPeng Officially Launches Production Line for General-Purpose Humanoid Robots
XPeng has officially brought its dedicated robot production line online, achieving automated assembly of its general-purpose humanoid robot, which autonomously walked off the line. This milestone follows the robot unit's recent $900 million funding round led by major venture firms and tech giants including Tencent and Alibaba. This development signals a shift in embodied AI and humanoid robotics from lab prototypes to scaled industrial production. With plans to deploy these robots in retail stores and business campuses before a broader market launch, EV makers like XPeng are attempting to build mass-manufacturable general-purpose robots. XPeng's robot division achieved a post-money valuation of over $6.3 billion, setting a record for China's embodied AI sector. The company plans for its IRON robot to enter mass production and commercial application internally by late 2026, with deliveries across domestic and overseas markets targeted for 2027.
