XPENG Names Its Robotaxi Service 'XPENG YOYO' and Launches Ride-Hailing Mini-App
XPENG officially named its Robotaxi service "XPENG YOYO" and launched a ride-hailing mini-app to open user testing. The company aims to begin passenger operations without safety drivers next year following successful internal tests powered by its second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model. This announcement signals XPENG's transition from technical testing to commercial branding and operational readiness in the autonomous ride-hailing space. Achieving fully driverless operations next year and targeting single-car break-even by late 2027 positions XPENG as a strong contender in the global Robotaxi market. XPENG has completed over 2,000 test rides in Guangzhou using its second-generation VLA model and built a cloud-based remote intervention platform. CEO He Xiaopeng noted that achieving single-car break-even by H2 2027 depends primarily on maintaining high vehicle density in specific operational zones rather than total fleet size.
## BACKGROUND
Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving enables vehicles to handle all driving tasks autonomously within designated operating zones without human intervention. Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models integrate visual perception, language understanding, and motion control into a unified AI framework, allowing autonomous vehicles to navigate complex traffic scenarios more flexibly.
