Xiaomi Unveils Three Custom Xuanjie Chips for AI and Smart Driving

Xiaomi has unveiled three self-developed chips: the Xuanjie O3 AI flagship SoC, the Xuanjie O100 AI accelerator, and the Xuanjie D100 3nm smart driving chip. These chips target personal smart devices, on-device AI acceleration, and autonomous driving, respectively. This launch represents a major milestone in Xiaomi's decade-long pursuit of custom silicon, aiming to secure its supply chain and optimize hardware-software integration for the AI era. By developing its own processors, Xiaomi reduces its reliance on external chipmakers and establishes a foundation for its smart ecosystem. The Xuanjie O3 is a 3nm SoC debuting in the Xiaomi 18 Fold, while the Xuanjie O100 uses 3D wafer-level stacking to achieve a high bandwidth of 1.22 TB/s. The Xuanjie D100 is China's first 3nm smart-driving chip, capable of running models with up to 200 billion parameters locally, with commercial use planned for 2027.

## BACKGROUND

Xiaomi began its chip development journey in 2014 with Pinecone Electronics, later releasing Surge-branded chips. In the AI era, custom silicon has become crucial for tech companies to bypass the "memory wall" and run large language models efficiently on edge devices and autonomous vehicles.
