Xiaomi Unveils AI Cube Mini PC Prototype with Triple Xuanjie Chips

Xiaomi has unveiled the AI Cube Prototype, an engineering-stage mini PC powered by a triple-chip architecture consisting of the Xuanjie O3, O100, and D100 processors. This hardware setup is designed to support the local deployment of large language models with up to 120 billion parameters. The device showcases Xiaomi's growing capabilities in custom silicon design and edge AI, demonstrating that massive AI models can run locally on compact hardware at a sustained 150W power draw. This could accelerate the adoption of high-performance, privacy-focused local AI assistants without relying on cloud infrastructure. The system pairs the 3nm Xuanjie D100 (featuring a 20-core CPU and up to 160GB memory) with the Xuanjie O3 SoC and the 3D-stacked Xuanjie O100, which delivers 1.22TB/s of near-memory computing bandwidth. The chassis is crafted from aerospace-grade aluminum with over 33,000 CNC precision holes to manage the 150W thermal output.

## BACKGROUND

Near-memory computing (NMC) is an architectural design that integrates memory and processing units closely together to bypass the "memory wall," which refers to the bandwidth bottlenecks and energy costs of transferring data in traditional architectures. Xiaomi's "Xuanjie" is the company's proprietary line of silicon, which has evolved from mobile SoCs to advanced AI and autonomous driving chips.
