Xiaomi to End Closed Beta for 'Xiaomi miclaw' AI Assistant in September 2026
Xiaomi has announced that the closed beta test for its experimental AI assistant "Xiaomi miclaw" will officially end on September 21, 2026. Current beta users are invited to transition to the HyperOS 4 Beta, where they will receive a free trial of the Super Xiao AI Expert Mode. This transition marks the end of Xiaomi's standalone experimental AI agent testing as the company integrates more advanced, system-wide AI capabilities directly into its upcoming HyperOS 4 operating system. It reflects a broader industry trend of moving from isolated AI experiments to deeply integrated, system-level AI features. Built on Xiaomi's MiMo large language model, "miclaw" is incompatible with HyperOS 4, meaning upgrading to the new OS beta will automatically opt users out of the miclaw test. To ease the transition, Xiaomi is offering beta testers free access to the "Super Xiao AI Expert Mode Enhanced Tier" from September 1 to December 1, 2026.
## BACKGROUND
Launched in March 2026, Xiaomi miclaw (codenamed "Lobster") is an experimental autonomous AI assistant designed for smartphones, featuring memory systems and self-evolution capabilities. HyperOS is Xiaomi's proprietary operating system, and its upcoming version 4 integrates "Super Xiao AI," an upgraded AI assistant capable of handling complex, multi-step tasks and context-aware queries.
