Xiaomi Deploys Embodied AI Foundation Model in Youth Apartments
Xiaomi has initiated a trial run of its Xiaomi-Robotics-1 embodied foundation model at a youth apartment complex, enabling robots to autonomously plan and execute long-horizon household chores across multiple rooms. This real-world pilot demonstrates the practical capability of embodied AI to handle complex, multi-step domestic tasks in residential environments, marking a significant step toward commercial robotics adoption. Powered by the Xiaomi-Robotics-1 system, the robots achieve continuous operation for over 30 minutes, spanning 3 rooms and executing over 50 tasks including desktop organization, trash cleaning, and room inspection.
## BACKGROUND
Embodied AI foundation models integrate perception, reasoning, and physical execution to allow robots to understand natural language and interact with the real world. Xiaomi-Robotics-1 was previously open-sourced after training on massive multi-modal real-world operation datasets.
