Xiaohongshu has officially released its "AI Governance Rules Announcement," requiring creators to disclose AI-generated content and the use of virtual avatars. The platform will ban automated operations, AI-assisted plagiarism (text spinning), unauthorized voice or face synthesis, and fabricated news. This policy reflects a growing industry trend among major social media platforms to regulate artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) and virtual influencers to maintain content authenticity. It aims to protect users from misinformation, deepfakes, and low-quality automated spam. Creators who proactively disclose AI usage will not experience traffic penalties, whereas undisclosed AI content will be automatically detected and labeled by the platform. Violators of the new rules face penalties ranging from distribution limits to permanent account bans.
