XHToken Releases Spark-X2.6-4B: A Compact On-Device Language Model

XHToken has released Spark-X2.6-4B, a compact 4B language model optimized for on-device deployment that delivers enhanced coding, agentic, and long-context capabilities through refined post-training. This release provides developers with a powerful, resource-efficient open-source model that matches the performance of much larger 9B models while running locally. It lowers the barrier for running advanced AI applications on everyday hardware. The model retains the exact architecture of its predecessor, Spark-X2.5-4B, and introduces a controllable thinking budget with three configurable levels (none, low, high) to balance latency and reasoning quality.

## BACKGROUND

Post-training refers to the refinement phases applied to a language model after its initial pre-training, often using techniques like reinforcement learning to improve reasoning, alignment, and specific workflows. GGUF is a specialized binary file format that packages model weights and metadata into a single portable file, enabling efficient local inference on tools like llama.cpp.
