Wistron Opens $700M Texas Factory to Build Nvidia's Next-Gen AI Superchips
Wistron has opened its first US manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, representing a $700 million investment to produce Nvidia's next-generation GB300 and Vera Rubin AI superchips. The facility has already created over 500 jobs, with plans to expand to 1,000 by the end of the year. This move marks a significant step in localizing the AI hardware supply chain in the US, aligning with Nvidia's commitment to manufacture $500 billion worth of advanced AI platforms domestically. It also showcases the practical application of digital twin technology in optimizing high-tech manufacturing facilities before physical construction. Wistron fully simulated the 324,000-square-foot factory's workflow prior to construction using a digital twin built on Nvidia's Omniverse, Cosmos, Metropolis, Nemotron, and PhysicsNeMo platforms. The systems produced will include the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra, which Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described as the foundation for the world's most powerful AI supercomputers.
## BACKGROUND
Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin architecture is a multi-rack, pod-scale platform designed to treat the entire data center as a single unit of compute, succeeding the Blackwell architecture. To design and simulate complex physical systems like factories, developers use tools like Nvidia Cosmos for physical AI world models and PhysicsNeMo, an open-source framework for training physics-informed AI models.
