WeChat Tests 'Xiaowei AI Socializing' Feature for Direct AI-to-AI Communication
WeChat has begun internal testing of 'Xiaowei AI Socializing,' a feature allowing a user's Xiaowei AI assistant to communicate directly with a friend's Xiaowei AI assistant. The two AI proxies handle preliminary discussion and negotiation, only prompting human users when a final approval or decision is required. This is one of the first major consumer-facing deployments of agent-to-agent (A2A) communication within a dominant messaging ecosystem. It shifts daily social coordination, such as scheduling or logistics, to automated AI proxies, reducing friction in digital communication. The conversation between the two AI agents takes place entirely within the Xiaowei interface and will not clutter the main personal chat windows. Users remain in full control through explicit authorization checkpoints before any final action or commitment is confirmed.
