Waymo Expands Driverless Ride-Hailing Service to Las Vegas

Waymo has announced the expansion of its autonomous ride-hailing service to Las Vegas, following its recent deployment in Nashville. The service will utilize the custom driverless vehicle known as the Waymo Ojai, manufactured by Zeekr, to transport up to four passengers to major local destinations including casinos, the Sphere, and Allegiant Stadium. This expansion demonstrates Waymo's accelerating effort to scale its commercial driverless network across major U.S. urban and tourist hubs. Launching in Las Vegas, a city with high visitor traffic and supportive municipal regulators, provides a prominent proving ground for Waymo's next-generation autonomous fleet. Although specific operational boundaries and road limits for Las Vegas have not yet been disclosed, initial routes are expected to be geofenced and may temporarily exclude highway driving. The deployed Waymo Ojai features Waymo's 6th-generation Driver technology with updated sensors integrated into a dedicated electric vehicle platform built by Zeekr.
