Volcengine Launches Draft Mode for Seedance 2.5 Video Generation API

Volcengine has introduced a Draft mode for its Seedance 2.5 video generation model, accessible via API and in ByteDance's Jimeng AI platform. Creators can rapidly generate low-cost 480P preview clips to validate prompt ideas and camera motion before committing to a full 1080P render. Generative video production often requires extensive trial and error to get the desired shot, making high-resolution generation costly. By enabling rapid 480P drafting, this update cuts iteration costs by 57% to 77% while nearly doubling preview speeds for commercial video pipelines. Unlike traditional video resolution upscaling, Draft mode passes the draft's unique ID, random seed, and key parameters into a second constrained inference step to preserve motion and composition structure in native 1080P quality. Developers can activate the workflow in the Seedance 2.5 API by setting the `draft` parameter to `true`.
