Chinese tech outlet IT Home reported that OpenAI allegedly announced "Astra for Law," a specialized legal AI foundation platform designed for legal research and case law indexing. The system reportedly indexes over 230 million URLs and incorporates data from the CourtListener legal database. Applying domain-specific AI to law could significantly streamline legal research, contract risk analysis, and precedent discovery for legal professionals. However, the report references unreleased models such as "GPT-6 Astra," raising strong doubts about its credibility and authenticity. According to the report, Astra for Law achieved 54.0% accuracy on a private 200-question US law benchmark from Vals AI, compared to 38.7% for GPT-6 Astra using standard web search.
