Unitree Founder Predicts Humanoid Robots Will Enter Mass Market Within Ten Years

During the World Robot Conference (WRC 2026), Unitree Robotics founder Wang Xingxing predicted that humanoid robots will enter the mass market within two to ten years. This transition depends on manufacturers enabling robots to handle 80% of voice-commanded tasks in unfamiliar environments. The prediction outlines the practical bottlenecks—specifically generalization and efficiency—that currently prevent humanoid robots from being deployed at scale in homes and factories. It highlights the industry's shift from simple demonstrations to solving real-world adaptability challenges. Wang noted that current robots require retraining for new tasks, making them less efficient than humans. To address this, Unitree is focusing on key hardware and software technologies, including embodied large models, reinforcement learning, and self-developed core components.

## BACKGROUND

Embodied AI refers to artificial intelligence systems embedded in physical bodies, such as robots, that can perceive and interact with their physical environments. Embodied large models integrate multimodal AI capabilities (like vision and language) with physical agents, allowing robots to perform complex decision-making, planning, and control without needing pre-programmed instructions for every task.
