UltraRISC Announces UR-CP400: High-Performance RISC-V Processor Core
UltraRISC announced the UR-CP400, a high-performance RISC-V processor core, at the 6th RISC-V Summit China 2026, with IP delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. This processor core represents a significant step forward for the RISC-V ecosystem by complying with the demanding RVA23 standard and incorporating hardware optimizations for agentic AI and cloud virtualization. The UR-CP400 features an out-of-order 8-issue design with a 14-stage pipeline, supports the RVV1.0 vector extension, and achieves a SPECint_base2006 score of over 22/GHz in an FPGA simulation configuration.
## BACKGROUND
RVA23 is a major RISC-V application platform standard that mandates a robust set of features, including vector, cryptography, and virtualization extensions, offering a feature profile comparable to modern x86-64 architectures. FPGA prototyping uses programmable hardware chips to test and validate processor designs before committing to expensive physical silicon manufacturing.
