UBTECH Partners with FAW-Volkswagen to Deploy Humanoid Robots in Automotive Logistics

UBTECH has entered into a strategic partnership with FAW-Volkswagen to co-develop and test embodied AI humanoid robots for automotive logistics and smart manufacturing. Building upon earlier quality-inspection trials using the Walker S Lite model, this collaboration expands the functional scope of humanoid robots further into factory logistics operations. This partnership highlights the accelerating commercial adoption of embodied AI and full-size humanoid robots inside demanding industrial environments. It illustrates how leading robotics manufacturers are moving beyond pilot trials toward large-scale deployment across real-world automotive assembly lines. UBTECH relies on a self-developed technology stack comprising foundation models, world models, and action models to grant robots end-to-end perception and decision-making capabilities. Production will be backed by UBTECH's Liuzhou smart factory, which opened in September 2026 with a planned annual capacity exceeding 10,000 units and an assembly rate of one robot every 10 minutes.

## BACKGROUND

Embodied AI refers to artificial intelligence integrated into physical hardware, allowing machines to perceive, reason, and act directly within physical environments. UBTECH's Walker S series features full-size humanoid industrial robots equipped with multimodal visual sensors and multi-degree-of-freedom joint actuators, designed to overcome the physical limitations of traditional fixed robotic arms in tasks like material handling and inspection.
