TSMC Projects 50.6% Increase in Q2 2026 Employee Bonuses Amid AI Talent War
According to SEC filings, TSMC's projected employee profit-sharing and bonuses for Q2 2026 will reach approximately 36 billion NTD, representing a 50.6% year-over-year increase. The total bonuses for the first half of 2026 are expected to hit 70.347 billion NTD, up 54.3% compared to the same period in 2025. Driven by surging AI demand and global fab expansion, the semiconductor industry is facing an intense talent war, forcing leading chipmakers to offer highly competitive compensation packages. TSMC's bonus growth rate significantly outpaces its projected revenue growth rate, highlighting the rising cost of retaining top engineering talent. The projected Q2 2026 bonus translates to an average of roughly 429,000 NTD per employee, based on an estimated workforce that is rapidly expanding toward 100,000. Despite the massive bonus pool, it represents about 4.7% of TSMC's projected Q2 2026 operating profit of 766 billion NTD, slightly down from 5.2% in Q2 2025.
