TrendForce Predicts Top Cloud Providers' CapEx to Top $1.5 Trillion by 2027

TrendForce has raised its forecast for the combined capital expenditures of the world's top nine cloud service providers, predicting it will exceed $1.53 trillion by 2027. This upward revision is primarily driven by surging investments in AI servers, component shortages, and rising server prices. This massive growth highlights the unprecedented scale of global AI infrastructure expansion, directly impacting hardware manufacturers, semiconductor suppliers, and cloud computing costs. The soaring expenditures underscore how aggressively major tech companies are competing to dominate the artificial intelligence landscape. AI server shipments are expected to grow by 32.2% this year, accounting for nearly 75% of total server value, and are projected to reach $920 billion by 2027. Meanwhile, total server production value as a whole is anticipated to surpass $1 trillion next year.

## BACKGROUND

Cloud service providers (CSPs) are companies that rent out computing power, storage, and networking infrastructure over the internet. Capital expenditure (CapEx) represents the funds these giants use to acquire, upgrade, and maintain physical assets such as data centers and specialized AI servers.
