TinyWebUI: A Lightweight, npx-Installable Alternative to Open WebUI

TinyWebUI is a new lightweight alternative to Open WebUI that can be launched instantly using the command 'npx tinywebui'. It includes preinstalled local search and memory features, supports multi-user isolation, and allows extensions via any Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. It provides a zero-install, resource-efficient interface for the LocalLLaMA community to interact with local language models. Its built-in user isolation and extension capabilities make it practical for lightweight local deployments. The tool pairs well with small local models, having been successfully tested with models as compact as the LiquidAI LFM3 1.7B. Additionally, it features built-in automations and a statistics dashboard.

## BACKGROUND

Open WebUI is a popular self-hosted graphical interface for interacting with large language models locally or remotely, while Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard introduced to seamlessly connect AI systems to external tools and data sources.
