Tesla to Expand Grok AI Assistant to Europe and Asia

Tesla is expanding its Grok AI assistant to the entire European market and additional Asian countries, including India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, in an upcoming 2026 summer software update. This update will also introduce voice-activated vehicle controls, allowing drivers to adjust climate settings, play music, and open the glovebox using natural language. This expansion marks a shift for Grok from a simple conversational chatbot to an active vehicle controller, showcasing the growing integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) in automotive systems. Ultimately, Tesla aims to integrate Grok with Full Self-Driving (FSD) to act as a virtual driver that can execute complex driving maneuvers via voice commands. The new vehicle control features will be delivered in the 2026.26 software update, enabling hands-free operations via the "Hey Grok" wake word. Elon Musk also indicated that Grok's integration with FSD voice controls is actively in development and could launch as early as autumn.
