Tesla Rolls Out FSD v14.2 Lite to HW3 Model S and Model X Vehicles

Tesla has started deploying Full Self-Driving (FSD) v14.2 Lite (software versions 2026.27.10 and 2026.27.11) to HW3-equipped Model S and Model X vehicles in North America. This marks the first time the updated FSD v14 architecture, which uses compressed AI models from Hardware 4 (HW4), has reached older Model S and Model X fleets. The update highlights Tesla's edge AI model compression capabilities, allowing advanced neural networks trained for newer HW4 systems to run on legacy hardware constraints. It provides legacy HW3 owners with long-awaited navigation abilities—such as automatic parking at destinations and shifting gears autonomously—extending the functional lifespan of older vehicles. FSD v14.2 Lite adapts HW4's reinforcement learning and offline neural networks to operate within HW3's processing and camera limits. While v14 represents the final major branch for HW3 vehicles, HW4 hardware retains superior performance and exclusive capabilities, such as Automatic Collision Evasion, which is omitted from the Lite version.
