Tesla Owner Manual Discloses Grok Assistant Will Support Voice Text Messaging

An update to Tesla's Model Y owner manual reveals that the Grok in-car AI assistant will soon allow drivers to send and receive text messages using natural voice commands. This feature expands Grok's capabilities beyond vehicle controls and phone calls into full hands-free communication. By leveraging Grok's contextual language understanding instead of rigid dictation, drivers can compose natural messages without taking their eyes off the road. It marks another step in Tesla's effort to deeply integrate conversational AI into the cockpit experience and lay groundwork for future FSD control. Unlike traditional Bluetooth voice-to-text features that require strict phrasing, Grok interprets contextual dialogue and optimizes wording to generate natural-sounding text messages. Existing Grok capabilities already include controlling vehicle hardware like climate control, searching navigation routes, opening the glovebox, and answering manual-based questions.
