Tesla FSD v14.3.9 Enables Autonomous Hazard Avoidance During Manual Driving
Tesla has started rolling out FSD v14.3.9 (Supervised), introducing an active safety system that can autonomously intervene during manual driving when a collision is imminent. If traditional Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) is deemed insufficient, the system takes control to execute steering, braking, and acceleration maneuvers. This capability transforms FSD from an opt-in driver-assistance mode into a continuous background safety net capable of complex evasive actions. By allowing the vehicle to steer around obstacles or onto road shoulders instead of just stopping in a straight line, Tesla aims to significantly reduce high-severity crashes. The system can be triggered by severe driver distraction, accidental FSD disengagement, or impending crashes where straight-line AEB braking is inadequate. Access to this emergency intervention still requires an active FSD purchase or subscription, and drivers remain fully responsible for vehicle control after the maneuver.
