Tencent Reportedly Developing Standalone 'Yuanbao Assistant' Personal Agent App
Tencent is reportedly developing a standalone Personal Agent app called 'Yuanbao Assistant', which will operate independently from its core Yuanbao AI app with dedicated execution space and permissions. The new app aims to support advanced core agent capabilities such as long-term tasks and personal long-term memory. This move highlights a broader industry trend among major Chinese tech companies, such as Tencent and ByteDance, as they rush to enter the Personal Agent market to shift AI applications from passive question-answering to active execution. By building dedicated apps for long-term tasks, tech giants are laying the groundwork for the next generation of AI assistants. The 'Yuanbao Assistant' is built on Tencent's proprietary Hunyuan large language model, leveraging capabilities developed since the launch of the main Yuanbao app in May 2024. Meanwhile, other internal departments at Tencent are also actively researching and developing Personal Agent related features across social and other business verticals.
## BACKGROUND
Personal Agent represents an evolution in AI application design where systems use a 'reasoning-planning-action-observation' loop to autonomously decompose ambiguous goals and call external tools. Tencent Yuanbao is a consumer-facing AI assistant app powered by the Hunyuan model that supports search, document recognition, and content creation.
