Tencent Begins Gray Testing Flagship AI Model Hunyuan Hy4 in Yuanbao App

Tencent has initiated gray testing for its new flagship AI model, Hunyuan Hy4, within the model selection list of its Yuanbao app. The model is positioned as an "expert-level" tool-use model, sitting alongside the upgraded general-purpose Hy3 and DeepSeek's reasoning model. The release of Hunyuan Hy4 represents Tencent's latest effort to compete in the rapidly evolving LLM landscape, particularly against rivals like DeepSeek. By focusing on tool-use and expert-level capabilities, Tencent aims to enhance its product ecosystem, including WeChat and Tencent Cloud. Tencent previously confirmed in its Q2 earnings report that Hy4 would feature a larger parameter size, offering improved performance and enhanced multimodal capabilities. Currently, the model is only available for limited app testing, and technical details or open-source weights have not yet been released.
