TCL Showcases X5 Smart 5G CPE with 7Gbps Speeds and Multi-Agent AI

TCL showcased its flagship X5 smart 5G CPE device at the Network X 2026 conference, featuring peak downlink speeds of 7Gbps and local multi-agent AI scheduling. The device supports the 3GPP Release 18 standard and utilizes an 8Rx radio architecture to enhance throughput. This launch highlights the ongoing integration of advanced AI capabilities directly into customer premises networking hardware, catering to demanding home and small business environments. By bringing local multi-agent scheduling to routers, it points toward more autonomous and responsive local network management. The TCL X5 achieves a theoretical peak downlink speed of 7.01 Gbps and features four directional and four omnidirectional C-band antennas using an 8Rx design, which improves downlink throughput by up to 51% over 4Rx configurations. It also includes natural language interaction, AI network optimization, and active diagnostics with self-recovery.

## BACKGROUND

A 5G CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) is a terminal device that receives 5G cellular signals and converts them into local Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet connections for homes and offices. 3GPP Release 18 marks the beginning of the 5G-Advanced era, introducing enhancements to network efficiency, performance, and advanced AI support in cellular standards.
