South Korea to Launch Free Generative AI Services for All Citizens
The South Korean government is launching the "All for AI" initiative, starting beta testing in September, to provide all citizens with free, unlimited generative AI services for daily tasks like healthcare, housing, and taxes. The project is led by the country's two major telecom operators and its largest consumer internet platform, Kakao. This initiative represents a major milestone in public AI deployment, integrating AI directly with government systems to improve public services. By subsidizing the operational costs, the government aims to lower the barrier to AI adoption and boost national competitiveness. Users will have unlimited access to the AI services without any token limits. To support this infrastructure and offset operating costs for the participating companies, the South Korean government plans to allocate up to 512 Nvidia B200 GPUs.

In generative AI, "tokens" are the basic units of data (like words or characters) processed by models, and commercial AI services typically charge users based on token usage. To power these resource-intensive models, advanced hardware like the Nvidia B200 GPU, built on the Blackwell architecture, is used to deliver high-performance AI training and inference.
