SoftBank-backed agricultural drone maker XAG is scaling fully autonomous drone systems that handle cleaning, charging, and route planning without manual pilots, driven by rural labor shortages. This initiative addresses severe aging demographics and rural labor drain by removing human pilots as a growth bottleneck, potentially opening up a massive multi-million unit market globally. XAG is currently the world's second-largest agricultural drone manufacturer after DJI, with products sold in nearly 70 countries and preparations underway for a Hong Kong IPO.
