SK Group and Nvidia Partner on $500B AI Factory Project by 2027

SK Group and Nvidia have announced a massive partnership valued at over $500 billion to build a 2 GW AI factory in South Korea by 2027. The project will deploy Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin architecture integrated with SK Hynix's HBM4 memory. This partnership secures a stable supply of next-generation HBM4 memory for Nvidia while establishing SK Group as a major AI infrastructure provider in the Asia-Pacific region. It also marks a significant step forward in scaling infrastructure for agentic, physical, and sovereign AI applications. The AI factory will utilize Nvidia's DSX platform and the Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-scale architecture. SK Hynix's HBM4 memory will feature a 2K I/O interface, delivering over 2.8 TB/s of bandwidth with a 40% improvement in power efficiency.

## BACKGROUND

High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) is a specialized 3D-stacked DRAM interface used for high-performance graphics accelerators and AI processors. Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin platform is the successor to the Blackwell architecture, designed to power advanced reasoning and agentic AI models at scale.
