Shanghai Jiao Tong University has officially established Sequoia College, backed by a 300 million RMB donation from Sequoia China founder Neil Shen. The college features an advisory committee composed of prominent tech leaders, including executives from Ant Group and miHoYo. This initiative represents a significant collaboration between academia and venture capital to foster elite STEM and AI talent in China. By offering flexible majors and graduation timelines, it aims to adapt higher education to the fast-paced demands of the technology sector. Students admitted to the "Sequoia Scholars Program" can choose any major within the main campus after their first semester and study under a flexible 3-to-6-year credit system. The curriculum emphasizes strong foundations in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, alongside enhanced AI literacy.
