Seres Sues User for 1 Million RMB Over AI-Generated Defamation Video

Seres has filed a civil lawsuit against a Douyin user, demanding 1 million RMB in damages for using AI tools to create and spread a fake video depicting an Aito vehicle collapsing while driving. This case highlights the growing legal risks and corporate zero-tolerance policies toward generative AI-driven misinformation and brand defamation in the automotive sector. It demonstrates how companies are actively protecting their brand reputation against manipulated digital content. The defendant, a Douyin user with only 57 followers and low video views, claimed the content was merely an ironic video and subsequently deleted it. The trial is scheduled for October 23 at the People's Court of Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing.
