This marks the second consecutive quarter that semiconductor equipment sales have set a historical high. The record sales reflect massive global investments in expanding advanced chip manufacturing capacity to support surging AI infrastructure demand. This hardware boom highlights the foundational role of equipment suppliers in enabling the next wave of artificial intelligence technology. The growth was broad-based, with all three major regions—Asia, North America, and Europe—reporting equipment sales increases. SEMI CEO Ajit Manocha noted that these sustained investments demonstrate how essential semiconductor manufacturing is to empowering ongoing AI innovations.
