Samsung Unveils Galaxy Glasses, Its First AI Smart Glasses
Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Glasses, its first AI-powered smart glasses, running on Android XR and powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip. Developed in partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the screenless glasses feature Google Gemini integration and offer up to 9 hours of battery life. This release marks Samsung's entry into the consumer AI smart glasses market, intensifying competition with Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses. It also showcases the deepening collaboration between Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm in the extended reality (XR) ecosystem. The glasses rely on audio output and a built-in camera to interact with Gemini for tasks like real-time translation and navigation, but they require a Galaxy smartphone to function. Additionally, gesture controls are supported but require a paired Galaxy Watch 9, and the charging case provides up to 7 extra charges.
