Samsung SDS Breaks Ground on Gumi AI Data Center

Samsung SDS has officially broken ground on a new AI data center in Gumi, South Korea, with completion expected by the end of 2028. The facility requires an investment of 4,273 billion KRW (approximately 2.13 billion RMB) and is designed to support next-generation AI systems and internal robotics operations. This development strengthens enterprise AI and cloud infrastructure while providing crucial computing power to accelerate Samsung's manufacturing robotics transformation. It highlights the growing corporate demand for dedicated facilities capable of handling heavy AI workloads. The data center spans approximately 46,300 square meters, features a hybrid air and liquid cooling layout, and has an initial design capacity of 60MW that will eventually expand to 120MW. It will serve both external clients and Samsung Group affiliates.

## BACKGROUND

Samsung SDS is an ICT services and systems integration subsidiary of the major South Korean conglomerate Samsung Group.
