Samsung's Texas Fab Sells Out 2nm Capacity Ahead of 2026 Trial Run

Samsung Electronics has reportedly sold out the initial 2nm process capacity at its upcoming Taylor, Texas semiconductor fab ahead of its planned October 2026 trial run. The facility has secured major client commitments including Tesla's AI5 chip, Broadcom's next-generation communication chips, and Arm's edge AI chips. Strong demand for Samsung's 2nm node highlights market appetite for advanced semiconductor manufacturing capacity outside of Taiwan. Winning high-profile customers like Tesla, Broadcom, and Arm signals rising industry trust in Samsung Foundry as a competitive alternative to TSMC for next-generation AI and autonomous hardware. The Taylor fab targets an initial monthly capacity of 50,000 wafers, with mass production slated for 2027 and reported 2nm manufacturing yields improving from 60% earlier this year to around 80%. Samsung is also planning a second Taylor fab, with construction starting in 2026 and mass production targeted for 2030.

## BACKGROUND
