Samsung Partners with Reality Defender for On-Device Deepfake Detection

Samsung has partnered with deepfake detection company Reality Defender to develop an on-device AI deepfake detection solution for enterprise users on Galaxy devices, starting in Singapore. The solution aims to help businesses identify AI-generated voice, video, and image scams directly on local hardware. As generative AI drives a surge in sophisticated audio and video deepfake scams, processing detection locally significantly reduces the risk of exposing sensitive enterprise data to external cloud servers. This partnership addresses a critical security pain point for organizations increasingly targeted by impersonation fraud. The upcoming solution will run directly on Samsung Galaxy hardware and leverage the Knox security platform to protect detection functions across layers from the chip to applications. Specific launch dates and compatible Galaxy device models have not yet been announced.

## BACKGROUND

Deepfakes are synthetic media where a person in an existing image or video is replaced with someone else's likeness using artificial intelligence, often accompanied by synthesized voices. On-device AI refers to running artificial intelligence models locally on a user's hardware rather than relying on remote cloud servers, which helps enhance data privacy and lower latency.
