Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Taiyo Yuden Announce MLCC Price Hikes
Major MLCC manufacturers Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Taiyo Yuden have announced price increases of up to 30% for their products. Samsung's price hike will take effect on August 1, 2026, while Taiyo Yuden's adjustment will apply to shipments starting September 1, 2026. MLCCs are critical components in electronics, and the price hike reflects severe supply chain pressures and surging demand driven by AI servers. This increase could raise manufacturing costs across the electronics, automotive, and telecommunications industries. Samsung Electro-Mechanics attributed the 30% hike to structural demand surges and supply chain pressures, while Taiyo Yuden cited soaring raw and auxiliary material costs that internal cost-cutting could no longer offset. Taiyo Yuden also noted that even if customers accept the price increases, on-time delivery cannot be guaranteed.
