Samsung Announces Galaxy Buds On Open-Clip Earbuds with AI Features

Samsung announced its first open-clip earbuds, the Galaxy Buds On, featuring a TwinBoost speaker system, a three-microphone array with bone conduction, and advanced AI-powered capabilities. Set to release in South Korea on October 27, the earbuds are priced at 299,000 KRW (approximately 1,499 CNY). This release marks Samsung's entry into the growing open-clip earbud market, combining comfortable situational awareness design with deep AI integration like Gemini Live and head-gesture controls. It addresses common pain points of open-style headphones, such as weak bass and sound leakage, through dedicated hardware and software innovations. The earbuds utilize TwinBoost speakers to enhance low frequencies and introduce sound leakage suppression for the first time in the Galaxy Buds line. They also feature automatic left-right ear recognition via built-in accelerometers and support quick voice memos via a long-press gesture.

## BACKGROUND

Gemini Live is a conversational voice and audio AI feature developed by Google, allowing users to interact naturally with a generative AI assistant on supported devices. Open-clip earbuds are designed to sit outside the ear canal rather than inside it, offering a more comfortable listening experience while allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings.
