Qwen 3.8-Max Released, Ranking Second in LMSYS Vision Arena

Alibaba's Qwen 3.8-Max has been released and has achieved the #2 spot in the LMSYS Vision Arena. Additionally, the open-weights versions of both Qwen 3.8-Max and Qwen 3.8-27B are scheduled to be released next week. Achieving the second spot in the Vision Arena highlights the model's strong multimodal capabilities, rivaling top proprietary models. Releasing these high-performing models as open-weights will significantly benefit the open-source AI community by providing accessible, state-of-the-art vision-language models. According to the announcement, Qwen 3.8-Max ranks second in the Vision Arena, trailing only behind Claude Fable 5 Max. The upcoming open-weights release will include both the flagship Max model and the smaller 27B parameter version.
