Qualcomm Demos AI Frame Generation and UE5 Lumen Rendering on Snapdragon 8 Gen 6

Qualcomm demonstrated its sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform running advanced graphics capabilities across titles like Neverness to Everness and Honkai: Star Rail. The showcase highlighted Adreno Neural Fusion (ANF) for AI frame generation and super-resolution alongside Unreal Engine 5 mobile Lumen global illumination. Bringing real-time dynamic lighting and hardware-level AI graphics pipeline acceleration to mobile chips enables open-world games to achieve console-like visual quality. It allows mobile devices to render higher frame rates and resolution while reducing power consumption and thermal load. Adreno Neural Fusion utilizes dedicated hardware Matrix Cores built directly inside GPU slices to execute AI super-resolution and frame generation on-chip without routing data to separate processors. All demonstrated footage across the showcased games was captured in laboratory development environments as technical proofs-of-concept.

## BACKGROUND

Unreal Engine 5's Lumen is a fully dynamic global illumination and reflection system that calculates complex lighting in real time, a feature historically limited to high-end PCs and consoles. Meanwhile, AI frame generation and super-resolution are rendering techniques that generate intermediate frames and upscale resolution using machine learning models to boost frame rates without disproportionately increasing raw rendering load.
