Nvidia Projects 70% FY2028 Growth and Plans 2 Million GPU Supply to AWS
Nvidia projected a 70% year-over-year revenue growth for fiscal year 2028, driven by insatiable AI demand that CEO Jensen Huang says far exceeds their current supply capacity. Additionally, the company announced a major deal to supply an extra 2 million next-generation GPUs, including Blackwell Ultra and Rubin architectures, to AWS between 2027 and 2028. This projection directly counters market fears of a peak in AI demand, showing that the market is expanding beyond hyperscalers into enterprise and "sovereign AI" sectors. The massive expansion of the AWS partnership solidifies Nvidia's dominant position in the cloud infrastructure landscape for years to come. While Nvidia's Q2 revenue surged 106% year-over-year to $96.22 billion, its accounts receivable also grew significantly from $38.5 billion to $63 billion due to extended payment terms for major customers. The upcoming GPU shipments to AWS will feature Nvidia's latest architectures, including the newly announced Rubin and Rubin Ultra platforms.
## BACKGROUND
"Sovereign AI" refers to national or regional initiatives aimed at developing independent AI infrastructure, models, and data controls to reduce reliance on foreign technology providers. Meanwhile, Nvidia's Rubin architecture is the successor to the Blackwell platform, designed to power agentic AI workloads with advanced liquid cooling and next-generation NVLink networking.
