NVIDIA Invests $3.5 Billion in MediaTek for Deep AI, PC, and Automotive Collaboration
NVIDIA has announced an expanded partnership with MediaTek backed by a $3.5 billion investment in convertible bonds to co-develop next-generation AI platforms. MediaTek will utilize the NVIDIA NVLink Fusion platform to design custom XPUs for rack-scale AI factories, while also extending joint development on RTX/DGX Spark PC chips and software-defined automotive systems. The partnership fuses NVIDIA's leading AI compute, graphics, and NVLink interconnect technology with MediaTek's expertise in low-power SoC design and custom ASIC packaging. This move enables both companies to serve hyperscalers seeking semi-custom AI infrastructure while directly taking on competing ARM-based PC chipmakers and traditional computing providers. MediaTek's custom XPUs will be designed for seamless integration into NVIDIA NVLink-connected rack-scale AI factories to serve cloud service providers and hyperscale enterprises. For client computing, the collaboration includes multi-generational NVIDIA RTX Spark and DGX Spark processors that combine NVIDIA GPUs with MediaTek SoCs for AI PCs, dev workstations, and intelligent automotive platforms.
