Nubia to Launch NaviX Ultra Smartphone Co-Developed with ByteDance on September 16
Nubia has announced that its NaviX Ultra AI agent smartphone, co-developed by ZTE and ByteDance, will officially launch on September 16. Dubbed the 'Doubao Phone 2nd Gen,' the device integrates ByteDance's Doubao AI assistant and features domestic 10667Mbps LPDDR5X RAM from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT). The launch marks the first commercial deployment of top-tier 10667Mbps domestic mobile DRAM in a flagship smartphone, highlighting China's progress in semiconductor component self-reliance. It also signals a shift in mobile AI deployment towards integrated software-hardware agents while refining privacy boundaries around automated user interactions. Unlike earlier AI agent implementations using GUI automation to scrape screens and simulate user taps, the NaviX Ultra avoids unauthorized screen reading in its collaboration with major Chinese app developers like Alibaba and Tencent. Hardware specs include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 processor, a 7000mAh silicon-carbon anode battery supporting 90W/100W fast charging, and a triple 50MP camera array.

Silicon-carbon anode batteries replace traditional graphite anodes with silicon composites to offer higher energy density, enabling massive 7000mAh capacities without significantly increasing smartphone thickness. LPDDR5X is an ultra-fast, low-power mobile memory standard crucial for processing intensive on-device AI algorithms efficiently. Mobile AI agents are designed to carry out multi-step actions on behalf of users, but privacy concerns have increasingly pushed developers away from invasive screen-reading techniques.
