Montage Technology Advances CXL 3.2 MXC Chips with Samsung, SK Hynix, and PCIe Switches
Montage Technology initiated trial production of the industry's first CXL 3.2 MXC chips in July, securing design wins with Samsung and SK Hynix, while announcing plans to tape out its PCIe Switch chips later this year. The company also sampled its 6th-generation DDR5 RCD chips delivering speeds up to 9200 MT/s and reported H1 net profit growth of 72.3% year-over-year. As AI workloads demand massive memory capacity and ultra-high bandwidth, Montage's advancements in CXL memory pooling and PCIe interconnects strengthen its role in next-generation server infrastructure. Securing early adoption with leading DRAM manufacturers like Samsung and SK Hynix positions the company at the forefront of the evolving AI hardware ecosystem. The CXL 3.2 MXC chip supports CXL data rates up to 64 GT/s and DDR speeds up to 8000 MT/s, enabling efficient memory expansion and pooling for cloud and AI datacenters. Additionally, Montage is currently one of only two global suppliers shipping PCIe 5.0 Retimers, and its upcoming PCIe Switch chips will complement these Retimers to complete its high-speed interconnect portfolio.

CXL (Compute Express Link) Memory eXpander Controllers (MXC) allow CPUs and accelerators to pool and share DRAM across high-speed PCIe connections, mitigating memory bottlenecks in data centers. Meanwhile, Registering Clock Drivers (RCD) and PCIe Retimers serve as crucial signal integrity components that restore high-speed data signals over dense server mainboards.
