Microsoft Integrates Copilot "Wrap Up Your Day" Email Summaries in New Outlook
Microsoft is introducing a "Wrap up your day" feature in the new Outlook for Windows 10 and 11, which uses Copilot to summarize emails from the past eight hours. The feature automatically generates a concise evening briefing based on sent and received messages. This update represents Microsoft's ongoing effort to embed generative AI directly into daily productivity workflows, helping users quickly identify key priorities. However, it has raised privacy concerns among early testers because Copilot accesses inbox data without explicit individual consent, and there is currently no option to disable it. The AI-generated summary organizes information into three categories: completed tasks, the top three urgent focus areas, and three priorities for the next day. The feature is currently limited to the new Outlook app and is not available in the classic Outlook version.
## BACKGROUND
Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI-powered assistant that embeds large language models, such as OpenAI's GPT-4, directly into Microsoft's suite of productivity applications. Features like Focused Inbox in Outlook already help users organize their mail by separating important messages from general clutter.
