Meta to Launch Autonomous AI Agent Muse on Smart Glasses

Meta announced that its personal AI agent, Muse, powered by the Muse Spark model, will soon launch on smart glasses. Users can issue voice commands like "Hey Muse" to execute complex tasks in the background without pulling out their smartphones. This marks a major step toward practical hands-free ambient computing, enabling autonomous AI agents to handle real-world tasks like shopping, booking services, and negotiating bills directly from wearables. By executing tasks within persistent cloud Linux VMs rather than local mobile apps, Meta is pioneering consumer-focused agentic workflows. Muse operates inside an isolated cloud Linux virtual machine with its own web browser, terminal, and file system, allowing it to write code, manage sub-agents, and run background tasks even when the app is closed. For financial transactions, Muse integrates Stripe's Link service to generate one-time virtual cards so the AI never handles raw payment details, and Meta plans to offer Confidential VMs later this year for enhanced privacy.

## BACKGROUND

AI agents are autonomous software systems capable of reasoning, planning, and executing multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention. Smart glasses and ambient computing rely on voice-first interfaces to deliver digital capabilities seamlessly into daily life without screen interaction.
