Meta Rumored to Partner with Fourier on Humanoid Robot Max

Reports emerged that Meta has partnered with Chinese robotics company Fourier to build a humanoid robot prototype named Max within three months, though Fourier's CEO declined to comment. This partnership highlights Big Tech's growing interest in combining advanced artificial intelligence models with physical hardware for household and daily tasks. It also signals closer cross-border collaboration in the rapidly evolving humanoid robotics sector. The Max prototype stands about 1.5 meters tall, weighs 48.1 kilograms, and is powered by NVIDIA's Thor chip. Both companies reportedly started developing the next-generation Max 2 in September.

## BACKGROUND

Humanoid robots are general-purpose robots designed with a human-like form factor to operate in environments built for humans. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly envisions such hardware as a physical embodiment for AI models capable of performing everyday household chores.
