Meizu Reportedly Mass-Producing 4-Inch "AI Square" Companion Device

Chinese consumer electronics maker Meizu is reportedly moving forward with mass production of its dedicated "AI Square" hardware gadget. The device features a 4-inch square display, runs on UNISOC's T8200 processor, and operates on Flyme AIOS integrated with Tencent's WorkBuddy AI platform. This development reflects the growing commercial push toward dedicated, small-form-factor hardware for artificial intelligence assistants. It also showcases Meizu's broader strategy under Geely to deploy AI-driven companions across both office environments and smart vehicle ecosystems. The gadget features a glossy polycarbonate shell, supports over 100 animated expressions across dozens of interaction scenarios, and can function as an in-car assistant for Geely-affiliated vehicles. It leverages the UNISOC T8200 5G mobile platform to handle cloud-based multi-agent collaboration via Tencent WorkBuddy.

## BACKGROUND

Meizu was acquired by Geely's DreamSmart Group in 2022, expanding its focus from smartphones to smart automotive technology and cross-device operating systems like Flyme AIOS. Meanwhile, Tencent WorkBuddy is a desktop AI workbench designed to break down complex tasks and manage automated office workflows using collaborative AI agents.
