Meituan Denies Rumors of LongCat AI Model Lead Pei Peng's Departure

Meituan has officially denied rumors regarding the departure of Pei Peng, the head of its LongCat foundation model team. Pei Peng, who joined Meituan in 2023, leads the development of the company's large language models, multimodal models, and AI agents, including the trillion-parameter LongCat-2.0. Retaining key AI talent is critical for Meituan as it positions itself in the competitive Chinese AI market with its open-source models and CatPaw AI agent platform. Leadership stability ensures the continued development and deployment of its large-scale AI infrastructure. LongCat-2.0 is a sparse Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model with 1.6 trillion total parameters and 48 billion active parameters. It is notable for being the industry's first trillion-parameter model to complete inference on a domestic Chinese computing cluster of 50,000 cards.
