Meet Ava: In-Browser Local AI Avatar with WebGPU and LFM3-Omni

Ava is a newly introduced in-browser local AI avatar that runs entirely client-side by leveraging WebGPU technology and the LFM3-Omni model. It allows users to interact with a multimodal AI assistant directly within their web browser without relying on cloud-based servers. This project showcases the growing viability of running advanced multimodal AI applications locally on consumer hardware directly inside web browsers. It enhances user privacy, reduces cloud computing costs, and enables seamless, low-latency interactions. The application relies on WebGPU for hardware acceleration and uses Liquid AI's LFM3-Omni model, which is designed for on-device deployment across multiple modalities. Users can test and experience Ava directly through its Hugging Face Space.

## BACKGROUND

WebGPU is a standardized JavaScript API that gives web applications high-performance access to a system's graphics processing unit for graphics and machine learning. LFM3-Omni is an end-to-end model capable of handling multiple modalities like text, vision, audio, and speech directly on-device.
